strange noise

Hi all... i've a problem.
it's an ossession for me!!!
I have a strange noise during early engine warm up ...
it's udible for 2 minuts in the 1000-1300 rpm range, then it disappear...
it also disappear revving up engine.
it sound like a diesel engine noise.
and this awful noise seems apparently to come from engine block! not to come from valve cover!
is it normal? or i've bad hla at 6500 km? and why only in the 1000-1300 rpm range?
my dealer won't check my car. he say it's regular noise.
are your engines noisy at cold startup?
any help would be appreciated.

Could be valves or injectors. Both are normally noisy when cold at startup.
If it goes away soon after warmup, then I wouldn't stress.<img src=/images/forums/snitz/laugh.gif width=15 height=31 border=0>

You mean that weird noise... Dunno how to quite explain it.. Sorta makes a splooshing noise? My car does it everytime, but I just guessed it was because my car wasn't warmed up since it only does it when i first take my car out. Annoying though.

Hmm.. I actually meant a clicking noise.
Splooshing sounds like a liquid - oil maybe ?
Could be cold oil getting up into the valve train. Maybe a different colder weather grade is needed.<img src=/images/forums/snitz/uhh.gif width=15 height=15 border=0>

Mine is a clack, clack, clack that disappear in 60-100 seconds enough udible.
it comes from head... (valve???)
i've heard another two tib and one (12000 km)do the same noise that disappear during warm up.
other tib (65000 km) it's less noisy.(!?!?!?!?)
According to hma, noisy valves may be normal during hla termohidraulic expansion.
anyway i'll try engine flush.
i read i can use cherosene or diesel... but i'm worried about seals <img src=/images/forums/snitz/uhh.gif width=15 height=15 border=0><img src=/images/forums/snitz/uhh.gif width=15 height=15 border=0><img src=/images/forums/snitz/uhh.gif width=15 height=15 border=0>

Use diesel. It's fine.

my experience ...
NOISE IN MY ENGINE HEAD (hla or valves!?!?) WAS CAUSED by high oil level ( > 3.7 liters ) !!!!!
Reading hma service i noticed that too high oil level may be cause of aeration or cause of defective oil pressure in warm up and in prolonged use.

So, tired from this awful clacking noise, i did this hopeless test.
Using a syrinx and a medical catheter i dropped a little my oil level taking out about 350-400 cc oil through dipstick duct until my oil level was a little more over middle point between two marks...
suspance... i started engine and NO MORE NOISE !!!!!!!!
Unbelieving i retried in the evening and NO MORE NOISEEEEE !!!!!!
may an excessive oil level ( > 3.6 , 3,7 ) overload oil pump?
or my pump begin to be faulty?
or my dipstick reading is incorrect?

my manual says that correct oil level is between the two marks but, in oil change, car must by filled up to max point in the dipstick ... but at max dipstick level engine become noisy, perhaps normally (!!?!?), during warm up.

opinions ???

I have noticed that my tib makes a deisel like noise somtimes at idle and low rpm. My buddies 240SX does the same thing. It seems to run fine. The dealer gave me that normal "oh they all do that" spill which I dont buy. But it does go away quicky, so i try not to stress, since my car is stock at the moment hyundai warranty WILL cover it.
