I'm not exactly sure about Maryland, but I believe the general idea nationwide is that nitrous systems are legal to be in the car, but if you're caught using it on the street you can get in pretty big trouble. And yes, cops are smart enough to see whether or not the bottle is on.

in maryland the bottle can be in your car but it can NOT be connected to the hoses. if you get caught it's like a $500 fine i believe.

then he came up, looked through the taga top, and sees a bottle of nos mounted, and he says, one second, i am gonna get your ticket you street racer

If you run nitrous in a vehicle to be legal you have to post the little green triangle on the back of your car and not have it connected. Thats so that if in a accident emergency personel know that there is a compressed gas inside.

In that case, does anyone know if there is a quick release for the bottle to the nitrous line? It's very difficult to unwrench that line before a cop comes. Let me know.

Normally a quick release would impeed the flow of the Nitrous from the bottle. I just ordered a remote bottle opener from NX for my bottles, and I'm going to hide the bottles in a fake speaker box so vene if I open the hatch all they see is a light weigh box with speakers that have been gutted.. The remote bottle opener works by turning out the knob by just flipping a switch on the dash or where ever you want to mount it.

You may hide the bottle but you better hide the lines too. I plan to hide my bottle, but i'm also going to be running a direct port injected system and all of my feed lines will be very well hidden. These damn cops are catching on to our little games so when they have you pop your hood, everything under there needs to look normal. Wire loom and electrical tape hides alot of sh!t.
