I feel like it is time to post this....

I am a Street Racer, But, I am what you could call a "Safe" or "Wise" Street Racer.

Some rules I go by are as follows....

I will not Race during the day.
Because of heavy traffic and people including Children are running around in all sorts of directions.

I will only race if I feel the race would be worth a ticket.
Something that I wish I would have done when I was younger. I would race anyone, anywhere.
Not a smart move...
It was hard to overcome all of the racing urges. Cutting your racing down by 95% means you have a lot of self control.
You swallow your Pride. But, I did it about a year and a half ago. I am proud to say that I am a Wise Street Racer.

Here is my point for this post:

About three weeks ago, in a town about 20 minutes away from my City, Two Seventeen year old boys decided to Street Race after school.

One was in a Porche, the other was in a Supra. Well these dumb asses were carrying the Race for about three miles, reaching speeds of up to 75 in a 35 SCHOOL ZONE.

Can you guess what happened???

It makes me sick.
They hit 6 kids total. Killed one little boy instantly. During the 1st Freaking week of school.

Then guess what happened after that? The driver of the Supra didn't even stop.

The driver of the Porche, stayed behind.

When cops arrived, he was talking on his cell phone acting like what he had just done didn't even phase him.

Please ALL of you....
Next time you get the urge to race in Hazardous places like Traffic, or during the day when the Kids are out....

Swallow your Pride and think about the life that you may be saving.

Keep it safe, and keep it at night.

Street racing should be done in a less populated area. I prefer an unpopulated area myself. Still when you race in anything you run the risk of injury to yourself or others. IR2 made some great points, .

Good Post IR2! Street Racing is never safe day or night. If you really want to race... go to a race track or those legally organized races like here in SD, we have regular street races at Qualcomm Stadium.

I'm know I'm guilty of street racing too but not very often... and I'm trying my best not to and just keep it on the tracks.

Yeah, I always street race almost anywhere, and I know the dangers... I'm a very awear driver though, never gotten a ticket, even though I do speed often... IR2, you expressed all those thoughts I have that sometimes holds me back. I agree, be smart!

it sucks to live where those guys are.

that happened here recently. a kid rolled daddy's 944 racing an Fbody (pretty sure it was an Fbody here, not a supra, theres only like 6 supraTT's in utah) and now the cops are all cracking down on the "ledgitamate" street races. i'm talking the ones where 100 or 200 cars show up in an abandoned industrial area and race on 1 piece of road. totally safe, everyone knows the risks.

though i really did feel bad for everyone involved in that incident here in utah, i think it's bringing us some pretty undeserved attention... the races were broken up even before they started last night. pretty lame

I dont race on the surface streets period. Only on the free way or the track or outof town. Surface street racing is totally moronic. Accidents are waiting all over the place for you, the other racer and civilains. I learned that lesson long ago when I was racing agaisnt a accord. I slowed down because I saw a big truck comming and he was sooo happy he beat me but once he turned his head around........Bam. So I never race on surface streets I dont care who it is. take it on the track or freeway

Prolly a dumb ass thing to say but i think that porshe would have ripped that supra apart, kind of a dumb race, unless it was a TT but still dumb in a school zone.

HEY!!! I used to live in Utah! I moved to Detroit 3 years go! When I was in Utah, I saw about 5 tricked out VW. Not even Hondas. As far as import goes, it wasn't the best area. And now I live in Detroit... I see some imports, but here, Muscle Cars and Hot Rods still dominate.

my preference... key word preference, is racing in the day time, because our area is laden with cops so I need to be able to see them. Also in the area where I normally race, there aren't any residential districts, hence no schools to watch out for. Not saying that there won't be any children, but just a smaller chance of them being there. Well here's my two cents, please no , thanx

I never really street race. Once every 6-7 months, I will race. Not in my car though. I never pound my Elantra I need it to last. And its stock, so I know its limitations. That car is just for looks. If I race, I use my mother's turbo charged Saab. Its fast and built for the speed. (Plus its leased, so who gives a damn...lol) Ive gotten that up pretty high...around 135mph. Just take it out, and then at around 2am on the highway, I ll punch it. Raced my friends Acura 3.2TL Type S. That took out the Saab. lol. Then again, it has 65 more hp. But it was fun, with the adrenaline rush. Its funny though, because I don't realize how fast Im going sometimes. I swap cars constantly, and I was working on my friends Subaru SVX. I stepped on the gas as if I were driving my own...then realizing I was passing a bunch of people. So I look down at the speedometer...I was going 110mph. I slowed it right down.

haha. yeah. the import scene in utah is kinda lame... but it's getting bigger. slowly. thanks mostly to the riceboys coming out of Regulate (some local ass tuning shop)... but there are some pretty leditamate imports out here (one completely JUN tuned typeR and another 2 that are very close... theres also a Nissan S14 240sx getting a S15 SR20det and 6spd gear box and some other goodies in the works.

pretty much the only good imports coming out of utah are coming from Modern Garage.

haha. sorry for the utah import scene wrap up as i see it... just bored...

hey if anyone wants to get together at some races drop me an email. i'm always down to chill with other utah import people

A street race is a street race. And it doesn't matter whether it's a sunny day or a cloudy day, kids or no kids, cops or no cops, on a clear country road or on a busy city street,........it's freakin dangerous.

it does not make any difference......

Most people here agree with that but there are more dangerous situations then others. We all know it is dangerous and wrong but if we are going to do it we might as well take a few precautions.

Hell for that matter racing at the track can be dangerous too along wuth just driving down the street.
