Stupid E-Bay intake

1260 Views 13 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  lightningTib
I bought an E-Bay intake (The auction says 03+), a 2-piece unit. I think it is made for the non-MAF sensor. I am having a hard time with installing it; did anyone have to cut a hole by the battery to make the filter fit? The CAI bracket aligns up with the bracket of the Tib. But I think I need to cut a space out of the intake.

I had the intake power coated to match the crush orange. But now I am afraid that I might have to cut it.

I made a SRI for now but I do not like it all. It sucks badly. I feel like I lost some power. If anyone could help me, thanks.

Here's the auction but it's not the actual intake: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=8038319997&sspagename=ADME%3AB%3AAAQ%3AUS%3A1

When I installed my friends, I had to cut her hole next to the battery larger (and this was an AEM intake)So yes, you probably have to cut the battery hole larger. But make sure it doesnt jump around or it'll dent. So maybe put a coupler around where it start to enter the hole so it doesnt scratch the intake paint.

Thanks dude.

The intake doesn't seem long enough to go though the hole though. With the filter installed, it ends up next to the headlight but there isn't enough room for it. And I am not going to cut a hole for the filter only. The intake is also a 3" intake.

it fits, you have to cut it and the filter will just fit right.
Get a K&N. ;):

Hey folks

Here's the picture of my intake installed, It seems to be running ok. It's a semi SRI to a CAI. I just used one piece of the CAI for now. Is there any problem with running the intake like this?

I am going to buy a K&N for it soon. Thanks

You just bought that and put it on...

You are going to have to cut that hole with the K&N setup too. Its for pretty much all CAI's. Unless you want a K&N SRI, then you are going to have to cut the hole.

I'll cut the hole, I didn't have the time to install the whole CAI The piping is the upper section of the CAI. I am just wondering if there is anything wrong with this type of setup. I had the intake powercoated. The powercoating is a little darker but the engine bay doesn't match the rest of the car, it doesn't have the gloss coat.
just another reason to go with AEM or injen........

I think the black couppler gose on the throtle body and the red on the MAF sensor
when you make the hole bigger make sure you put some kind of gormet on the sides or you'll damage the CAI piping
I used fuel hose that I've spliced and electric tape to see if there was some kind of rubbing

If you dont make a gormet it could rub and make a hole in it like this guy

hope this will help you
