Hey Guys!

This is my first time at the Elantra board. Anyways, I own a 2001.5 Elantra GT and was wondering what you guys suggest to boost its power. But here's the catch, I want it to look stock while boosting the power as much on the inside...so I'd prefer not to change the exhaust if that is possible.

Can you guys help me out?

Also, when searching for parts, since I have a 2001.5, do I look for parts for a 2001 Elantra, or a 2002?

And do you guys know if that Tornado Fuel Saver works with Elantras?

Thanks!!!<img src=/images/forums/snitz/smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0>

Well, power is made by converting fuel into energy. So, the way to increase power is to increase the amount of fuel burned. This is why Lamborghini's get 7 m.p.g.. The only way to burn more fuel is to increase the amount of oxygen getting into the engine and the amount of exhaust going out. There really is no way to increase power anymore than 5-6 hp without using an aftermarket intake and exhaust.
Don't waste your money on a Tornado. They do absolutely nothing. Sport Compact Car tested one a few years ago. The makers of the Tornado would only let SCC test one at their shop by their dyno operator, on their Clayton dyno. Clayton's are not as accurate as Dynojet's and the operator can affect the reading. Not suprisingly, it showed amazing performance gains. SCC ordered one anonimously and tested it themselves on their own Dynojet dyno. It showed no gains and actually lowered horsepower on one run due to the obstrution it caused in the intake. I think SCC said that the Tornado was as effective a performance mod as mudflaps.
