Anybody heard of Pann Auto in San Diego? I went there yesterday and they told me that they could install a t3/t4 hybrid turbo setup on my car for $3500. It doesn't come with pistons and rings but it comes with everything that you need for the turbo setup. I looked at one that they did on another car and it looked really good. I need to look into it a little more to find out exactly what comes with the kit. I know you get turbo, manifold, all piping w/ filter, intercooler, BOV, wastegate, and fuel psi reg. There may be more but I didn't get to talk for long. So what do y'all think? All that and possibly more installed for $3500.

What do you drive?

If it is a Tib 5spd you can attempt to become sponsored through UFB and get our stage 2 kit for $2500 plus installation. If you live close enough I believe Red has offered to install the unit free of charge.<img src=/images/forums/snitz/thumbup.gif width=25 height=18 border=0>

I could do that for you for $2500 easy. Hell, quite honestly, I could put you together a "T3/T4" setup with intercooler, BOV, wastegate and piping for around $1500 if you REALLY want me to.

Problem is, do you really know what you're gonna get?

I was discussing this earlier today over IM... There is a LOT of descrepancy just on the turbo itself. A "t3/t4" is not a finite answer; I can show you a T3/04B, a T3/04E, and a T3/04H. Do you know which is which? What if I showed you a T3/04E-11 and a T3/04E-05? What if I showed you a T3/04E-11 with a 0.63A/R compressor and a T3/04E-11 with a 0.87A/R compressor?

You getting the picture yet?

it's like saying "I'm getting a Honda!" Well what Honda? What year? What engine? What options? What tranny? You have no clue, T3/T4 is such a generic term...

I could also carry that argument to the intercooler itself. Yeah, I can show you a 24x10x3 intercooler, but I can show you another one that's the same size with a 65% thermal efficiency and an 8psi boost drop.

BOV is the same argument, so is the wastgate. Hell, so is the "fueling" he's supplying.

Until you get some brand names, specifications and "guarantees" then you have to be bit skeptical.

Whoops, I posted while Autobot did...

I agreed to HELP with the install, not do it for free <img src=/images/forums/snitz/thumbup.gif width=25 height=18 border=0> The kit is advertised to be easily installable, I just want to be there to help in case it isn't quite as easy <img src=/images/forums/snitz/wink.gif width=15 height=15 border=0>

And my "skepticism" post was directed to the original poster, not necessarily towards UFB or the kit. UFB has been fairly forthcoming with the details on his particular kit...

Well Red you know once you arive you will end up doing most the work.<img src=/images/forums/snitz/laugh.gif width=15 height=31 border=0>

For 2 reasons

1) I think you are a hands on guy like myself who realy enjoys doing the work.<img src=/images/forums/snitz/thumbup.gif width=25 height=18 border=0>

2) The person who most likely gets the kit will look at it and be like "WTF?!?"<img src=/images/forums/snitz/laugh.gif width=15 height=31 border=0>

So Red, you going to be in San Diego anytime soon? I would love for you to put together a 1500 to $2500 turbo setup on my car for me. Anyways, thanks for the help. Your info was appreciated. I did see the kit I mentioned on a nearly stock civic and it was kicking some serious ass once it was installed. But I will be sure to look further into it and let you know the details on the setup. And to Autobot, my tib is a '99 automatic. And like you said, I can attempt to get sponsered by UFB and then I would still have to abide by all their stipulations. Installed, tuned, two different dynos in 10 days. I don't have that kind of cash to throw around.

Bro, I live in San Diego, and if your talking about Pann Auto in Clairemont Mesa area, you need to stay the **** away from that place. I've heard personal stories of those guys making key copies your car so they could STEAL it off you later. Pann is alright from buying stuff, but I'll be DAMN if I'd recommend them to touch my vehicle. You want QUALITY? Go down to Miramar Rd. and talk to the guys at AEBS. The only way I can describe AEBS is QUALITY and CLASS. Yeah you pay $65 a hour for the work but its worth it. Just PLEASE DON'T GO THERE. You've been warned. <img src=/images/forums/snitz/smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0>

Group 5 Motorsports has all their work done at AEBS, so you would be doing yourself a favor by cutting out the middle man entirely. If you call up Group 5, they should be able to give you exact directions. Its on Miramar Rd. Look for the sign that says Group 5, and go around the back. AEBS should be located there.

Pann Auto in National City is "Engineuity" now, only Pann Auto left is in Kearny Mesa. Kidd Supreme is right, you can buy parts there, but dont get your stuff done there. It's average work, unpredictable, could be good, or bad, I dunno about you, but I'd rather have good, consistent, work that comes out as scheduled. Ben Ma used to own Group 5 Motorsports, then sold it, and opened AEBS(race applications). AEBS built that 7 sec Ford Focus that RJ Simrock drives. It is very close to where the old Group 5 was. AEBS's Number is (858) 693-3200 if you have questions or want directions.
