I think the rev limited kicks in at 7100, with a hard fuel cut...
SOHC redline is 6000
DOHC redline is 6500
Alpha engine peak power is ~5800

Yours is an auto then i take it...
Every now and then i push 2nd gear to 80km/h (about 50mph)...
revs to roughly 5800...
Still safely under red-line and give a nice torque-y kick after 40km/h...

well i promise you that if you floor it and don't let up it will redline higher than 4k. don't know how accurate the tach is, but i'm with scythe on this, my sohc redlines a little over 6k.

glad to hear you got your tach working caboose

Well, I've hit the fuel cut-off at 6100(ish).
Running the motor to that point isn't going to hurt it in any way.
I can just hit 90k/h (55 mph) in second before I hit the cut-off.

I'm pretty sure that peak power for the LC accent is produced at 5600-5800...
So pushing it much harder than that is not really useful...

When racing some one i will generally change at around 5000, which when i release the clutch again will drop me at around 4000...
Which is in the right area to get going again...

Try and find some dyno charts that are for you make of car with similar mods and see where the power is...
Try and shift at the high points...

IE LC peak torque is 3300, with peak hp/kw at 5800...
So spirited driving in the 3000-6000 range will feel the best...
