Hyundai Beta Engine

2.0

The G4GF (also called the 2.0 D) is the 2.0 L (1975 cc) version. It shares the larger 82 mm bore of the 1.8 but is stroked to 93.5 mm. Output is 135 hp (101 kW) at 6000 RPM with 132 ft.lbf (183 Nm) of torque at 4500 RPM. It has a cast iron engine block and aluminum DOHC cylinder heads. It uses MFI fuel injection, has 4 valves per cylinder and features forged steel connecting rods. The latest version of the 2.0 L Beta engine features CVVT variable valve timing, a first for Hyundai/Kia.

During 2001-2002, the new Beta II engine made its debut in models such as the XD Elantra and GK Tiburon. The following changes were noted.

* Redesigned block with external contouring of cylinder bores (ilo flat sides), extra ribbing & one extra transaxle fixing point (now 5)(less NVH)
* Crankshaft now has 8 counterweights ilo 4.(NVH)

* Cylinder head machined to more precise tolerances
* Head gasket now 2-layer (ilo 3)
* Idle speed reduced to 700 rpm from 800 rpm (NVH)
* Hydraulic engine mounts (4) ilo rubber (NVH)
* Heat shield installed between engine & air filter, reducing heating of induction air (+2% output).
* New camcover with I-piece high-specific gravity polypropylene baffle (ilo 2-piece pp)
* Oil flow reduced (econ)
* Mechanical valve lash adjusters (solid lifters) replace hydraulic, improving valve clearance precision (durability).
* Lower valve spring load reduces valve train friction (perf).
* Engine cover installed (NVH & dress up engine bay)
* Catalytic converter now upstream adjoining exhaust manifold (ilo under car) (emissions)

Hyundai Alpha engine

Hyundai's Alpha automobile engine was the first to be designed in Korea. It was a modern SOHC 3-valve straight-4 and was available in turbo and naturally-aspirated versions.

The first Alpha engine was introduced in 1993 in the Hyundai Scoupe and lasted through 2002. Alphas were produced in 1.3 L (1341 cc) and 1.5 L (1495 cc) versions, with a 1.6 L Alpha II produced later. The 1.5 came first, with a 75.5 mm bore and 83.5 mm stroke. The 1.3 was de-bored to 71.5 mm bore.

The G4EH is a 1.3 L engine. Output was 71 hp (53 kW) at 5500 rpm and 81 ft·lbf (110 N·m) at 3000 rpm for the carbureted 1.3 CON version and 83 hp (62 kW) at 5500 rpm and 86 ft·lbf (117 N·m) at 3000 rpm for the SOHC 1.3 S.

The SOHC 1.5 S generated a respectable but not notable 92 hp (69 kW) at 5500 rpm and 97 ft·lbf (132 N·m) at 4000 rpm, although some websites quote the torque rating as being 97 ft·lbf (132 N·m) at 2700 rpm. European version makes 90 HP (66 kW) at 5500 RPM and 129 (or 132) Nm at 2900 (or 3000) RPM (try it and you'll see it's true).

DOHC on the Alpha II pushed output to 101 hp (75 kW) at 5800 RPM and 98 ft·lbf (133 N·m) at 3000 rpm.

The turbocharged Alpha, also introduced in 1993, produced 115 hp (86 kW) at 5500 rpm and 123 ft·lbf (167 N·m) at 4500 rpm.

The alpha family continued at least through 2005 in Hyundai's Accent economy car. The G4ED Alpha II was enlarged to 1.6 L (1599 cc) thanks to a 76.5 mm bore and 87 mm stroke. A 10:1 compression ratio produced 104 hp (78 kW) at 5800 rpm with 106 ft·lbf (144 N·m) of torque at 3000 rpm.

The Alpha II has a cast iron engine block and aluminum DOHC cylinder heads with 4 valves per cylinder. It uses MFI fuel injection and features forged steel connecting rods. The Alpha engine family is produced in Ulsan, South Korea.

CVVT Alpha II was introduced in the 2006 Accent. Power output also increased to 110 HP and 108 lb/ft torque. It has COP(Coil-On-Plug) ignition, graphite-coated pistons and new cylinder block design to increase strength. Throttle body bore has increased from 48 to 52 mm. Engine and automatic transmission control is now integrated into one module and the PCM is located in the engine compartment. It is ULEV-certified in all 50 states.

Hyundai Delta engine

The Hyundai Delta engine family is the company's smaller V6, ranging from 2.5 L to 2.7 L. Both share the same 75 mm stroke and both are DOHC designs.

The G6BW (also called the 2.5 D) is the 2.5 L (2493 cc) version with an 84 mm bore. Output is 168 hp (121 kW) at 6000 RPM and 167 ft.lbf (226 Nm) at 4000 RPM.

The G6BA (also called the 2.7 D) is the larger 2.7 L (2656 cc) version with an 86.7 mm bore. Output is 173 hp (129 kW) at 6000 RPM with 182 ft.lbf (244 Nm) of torque at 4000 RPM. Hyundai Lambda engine

The Hyundai Lambda engine family is the company's modern all-aluminum V6. It is manufactured at Hyundai's HMMA plant in Montgomery, Alabama.

G6DB

The 3.3 L G6DB version was introduced with the 2006 Sonata. It produces 238-247 hp (175 kW) at 6000 rpm and 238 ft·lb (306 N·m) at 3500 rpm.

The G6DB has an aluminum block and heads, variable valve timing on the intake side, and 4 valves per cylinder. Bore is 92.0 mm (3.6 in) and stroke is 83.8 mm (3.3 in) for a total displacement of 3342 cc.

Hyundai Omega engine

The Omega is Hyundai Motor Company's only V8 engine. It is a DOHC unit with electronic multiport fuel injection.

G8AA

The G8AA (also called the 4.5D) displaces 4.5 L (4498 cc) with an 86 mm bore and 96.8 mm stroke. Output is 256 hp (191 kW) at 5000 RPM and 275 ft.lbf (373 Nm) at 2500 RPM.

Hyundai Sigma engine

The DOHC G6AT and G4HA (also called the 3.0 D) both displace 3.0 L (2972 cc). They share the 2.5's 76 mm stroke but use a larger 91.1 mm bore. Output for the older G6AT is 182 hp (136 kW) at 6000 RPM and 178 ft.lbf (241 Nm) at 4500 RPM, while the G4HA produces 180 hp (134 kW) at 6000 RPM and 188 ft.lbf (255 Nm) at 4000 RPM.

The older SOHC 3.0 S produces just 158 hp (118 kW) at 5000 RPM and 177 ft.lbf (240 Nm) at 3000 RPM.

The G6AU and G4HC (both also called the 3.5 D ) are the large 3.5 L (3497 cc) versions of the Sigma engine. Bore and stroke are both larger at 93 mm and 85.8 mm respectively. Output is 200 hp (149 kW) at 5500 RPM and 214 ft.lbf (290 Nm) at 4800 RPM for the older G6AU V6 and 217 hp (162 kW) at 5500 RPM and 232 ft.lbf (314 Nm) at 3500 RPM for the new G4HC Sigma.

The 3.5 D has a cast iron engine block and aluminum DOHC cylinder heads. It uses MFI fuel injection, has 4 valves per cylinder, and features forged steel connecting rods. It is designed to run on "regular" unleaded gasoline rather than the premium fuel used in many other high-output V6 engines.

The US-market version produces 194 hp (145 kW) at 5500 RPM with 219 ft.lbf (297 Nm) of torque at 3500 RPM. It was introduced with the Kia Sedona minivan in 2001 and was, at the time, the largest engine offered in a minivan and the second-most powerful. Since then, many other makes have passed it on both counts. It has been more of a Kia than Hyundai engine, with the Santa Fe and XG350 coming later.

Hyundai Theta engine

The Hyundai Theta (G4KC) is a gasoline 4-cylinder automobile engine family.

The third all-aluminum engine of Hyundai Motor Company debuted in the fifth-generation Hyundai Sonata sedan, which was unveiled in August 2004 in S. Korea.

It features hollow stainless-steel DOHC with powder-metal cam lobes, pent-roof combustion chamber and shimless bucket tappets in the cylinder head.

BorgWarner Morse TEC supplies the complete set of timing system that uses the company's proprietary silent timing chains. CVVT(Continuously-variable valve timing) works on the intake side.

The aluminum alloy engine block, which is formed using high-pressure die-cast method, has a unique Metaldyne-supplied cassette-type balance shaft module with a two-stage oil pump built-in. In the lower-end, the block is reinforced by a ladder frame. Other notable features include fracture-split sinter-forged connecting rods and stainless-steel exhaust manifold.

Theta's EMS(engine management system) software is EMS-II from Siemens VDO and the 32-bit PCM(Powertrain Control Module) calculates the amount of intake air by utilizing a contamination-proof hot-film type MAF(mass air flow) sensor.

Chrysler Corporation produces a modified version of Theta, dubbed World Engine, in Dundee, Michigan. Theta and World Engine share the same basic cylinder head and enigne block design. Chrysler engineered their own air intake system and exhaust manifold which is made of gray cast iron.

The World Engine also differs in the EMS as it measures the amount of intake air indirectly using a MAP sensor, another cost-saving feature of the Chrysler-modified engine.

Contrary to the official line of Chrysler Corporation, the Theta engine factory in Asan, S. Korea is not a part of the Global Engine Manufacturing Alliance. Construction of the Korean factory began in August 2003 and it came on line in April 2004. It is owned and operated by Hyundai Motor Company.

Interested in knowing what upgrades were done to 2009 U.S. market Hyundai 3.3 Lambda V6 that increased horsepower output from 237 to 249 and torque from 226 to 229. What parts might bolt on to 2006 - 2008 3.3 V6 from 2009 Sonata or Azera 3.3, that would increase power (intake manifold, air intake etc?). Interested in increased handling upgrades as well (sway bars, bushings etc.), from either other Hyundai vehicles or aftermarket. I understand that the 2009 Sonata V6 engine mounts were stiffer than previous mounts. Would they fit all fifth generation Sonatas (2006-2010)? All coments and information is appreciated. Thank you.

2009 Sonata with sport suspension had 27mm front and 17mm rear stabilizer bars
2009 Sonata with 3.3 V6 had redesigned fresh air intake assembly (was not routed around battery as with previous 2006 - 2008 V6 models).

I have an 08 optima can you tell me anything about the theta g4kc ? I'm want to get the most out of it but extremely hard to find performance products for?? Any help would be greatly appreciated 🙏 🙂
