Own a 2002 elantra that needs a new t-stat. I do not have a repair manual, but I'm going to need to buy one now. I need to know if the t-stat is easily accessible or will I need to buy special tools. Is it pretty easy to get too?

Thermostat is located right beside the air filter box. The lower radiator hose hooks to it. You will need a 10 mm socket and a 12 mm socket. Remove the Top bolt from air filter box. Then remove the air filter box top and the hose assembly off the intake manifold. Just a 10mm hose clamp at the intake and the small hose that attaches to it. Then remove the lower part of the air box "for room". Those are also 10 mm bolts. Then remove the plastic cover over the thermostat housing. It's black with a couple wires hooked too it.. Just move it enough to get it out of your way. Remove the connector from the ignition coil just above the thermostat housing. Then remove the thermostat housing. They are 12 mm nuts. Then just put it back together. :rambo:
