Well If I were to get the newer elantra Id get the GT 140hp at 133lbs of torque I think it is. Very nice and responsive performance vehicle, I test drove one at the Hyundai Dealer the other day. Very impressive machine.

Yeah? I think the GLS has the better body style though, I go for the looks first than the perforance. thanks for the opinions!

I have posted on this topic before, since I own a GLS and my buddy owns the GT, I
might have a little insight. They are very similar to drive in my opinion.
Yes, the "sport-tuned" suspension on the GT make the handling a tad sportier. The ride is a tad smoother in the GLS. The steering feels lighter and more assisted in the GLS. All-disc brakes in the GT make for slightly more secure braking in the corners... the GLS has front disc and rear drum...but does quite
well in braking tests...as well, apparently as some cars with ABS.
I like both cars a lot. The dealers were asking about 3 grand more for the GT here in CA. I just added some of the things about the GT that I really liked...like a CD player, leather-wrapped wheel, security system and fog-lights. Body style is
preference stuff. I prefer the GLS a
little, but not by much. <img src=/images/forums/snitz/wink.gif width=15 height=15 border=0>

They should be pretty much the same exept for the rear disc brakes, which add a lot to looks. Anyway, the "sportier" suspension settings would change if you put some Eibachs on your GLS, and I bet it would be even more agressive than a stock GT. Add wheels and sportier tires, and there you go with a sporty GLS.

Agreed, Couldn't get a more precise opinion as that! They look just like a Saab!<img src=/images/forums/snitz/thumbup.gif width=25 height=18 border=0>

It may be just a personal taste thing, but I LOVE the purple illumination of the cluster at night on the GT. (My greyhound likes the GT 'cause of the hatch!)<img src=/images/forums/snitz/thumbup.gif width=25 height=18 border=0>
