does any one else view the v6 in the 2003 tib as a threat to our aftermarket on the 4 banger elantra, i think that the tib using the same engine really boosted the aftemarket on the j2. now anyone who wants a hyundai, and is serious about performance is going to get the tib with the v6, right?... i hope not

naw, no threat, older models have more aftermarket support than newer ones for the most part!! AND they still make the 4 banger Tiburon so I think we're fine!

yea the beta is still a great engine, i don't think anybody would be stupid enough to stop aftermarket on it

Um. Is your name Max? Anyhoo, no.
Don't even worry. The Elantra is not expected to change for a few years...same engine etc. And there are already a lot of Elantra and Tibs out there already with the 2.0
beta in em. Elantras are the big sales models for Hyundai, and they all have the 2.0..now. So there is still money to be made in aftermarket...and most everybody knows it.

Actually the tib is based off the elantra so as always many 2003 tib parts will fit the Elantra, and if what I hear is correct you'll see me in a 2003/2004 Elantra v6

Now that would be pretty sweet...an Elantra GT with the v6 and 6spd.

It was my understanding that '03 Tib. is based off the Sonata, and the previous Tib. was based off the Elantra. One of the car mags said this. Don't ask which one because I read at least 25 mags. every month and have no idea which one it was. Either way, I think the 4 banger Tib. (new and old) will see more aftermarket support than the 6. There's alot of room in thwe engine bay of the '03. I'd like to slap a T3/04 hybrid in there and see what happens.

I too have heard that the new Tib is based on the Sonata subframe but the engine code is the same G4GC as our 2001+ Elantras. The new 2003 Tib is not on the parts site yet so I can't compare motor mounts and such but I think it is a possible swap.

Yeah, support aftermarket, buy sh!t for your Elantra's. Or in my case, buy aftermarket for your Accent with an Elantra Beta motor in it
