Hi I'm new to this board, I just ordered my new Tiburon V6 here in Canada, Quebec, i will receive it mid March...

I just wonder if i'm gonna be able to beat the 2002 mustang v6 at the 0-60?

Considering the 190 hp and the 220lbs of torque..the Mustang V6 seem to be more powerful..

Anyway, can you guys tell me your opinion??

Sorry for my bad english..

I agree with Mach5, the 'stang will be a little quicker. But if you learn how to launch your car and when to shift you can out-run a normally faster car...unless he has his technique polished too.Practice, practice, practice maximizing your
Tibs potential.

Thats bullsh#t! The mustang will kick your as$. I just read in a magazine that the tib V6 does 0-60 in 8.1 sec! what a hunk of sh#t! They were laughing at how the celica gts with a 4 cylinder and 180hp will kick your as$ without even trying! Face it the V6 tiburon sucks!! my 2001 tib will beat it!

The V6 mustang is only 100lbs heavier.

That was Car and Drivers ESTIMATED numbers.

I highly doubt the I4 '97-01 will keep up at all.

matthew that was pretty ignorant.....
the tib can't beat the mustang with equal drivers but if the conditions are right it has a chance to take it

A tiburon gt v6 manual should outdo a v6 mustang in the 0-60, IF the mustang is an automatic.

I have personally raced a V6 Tiburon in my 2001 Tibby and beat him by about two car lengths. The only thing was that he had the auto and I have a 5-speed.

the easiest way to beat both a v6 tib and a v6 stang is to have a 70 shot of nitrous at the push of a button...

why are you guys still wondering about this crap? hehehe

just kidding !!! life is short, spray it away !

Fordfasterr : Yeah with nitrous....

I already have a Mustang 5.0 84' stock...but I still think the tib 2003 look better than the stang 2002 even if the Stang is has more HP..

0-60 doesn't mean much in itself, time over measured distance, like 1/8th or 1/4 mile, carries more weight. Your car may be first to 60 and still lose a 1/4 mile drag. If your car is first to the 1/4 mile
mark there is no doubt your car is faster...over that distance anyway . Estimated times should be taken with a grain of salt. Even if the 0-60 times for the v-6 Tib IS 8.1 its the 1/4 mile time that matters most...and I've seen a 15.6 somewhere recently...which is more than a stock I-4 Tib can do. I'm not surprised that a I-4 Tib can out-run a V-6 auto, thats what i would expect. I've seen low 15's for the manual v-6 'stang...not that much faster than the v-6 Tib.

at car point it says the average for a v-6 stang is 15.6 the same as a new tib. 16.3 for auto in the stang, which is the same as a 2001 tib. i have not wasted but stayed door to door with an auto stang v6 same with the camero v6. which uses pretty much the same engine. What it comes down to is the import performance or korean performance, in my opinion you could, if you are a decent driver, keep up with or beat a stang if not waste him.

Im just wondering how many performance parts with this delta engine have for it seeing as how the v6 eclipses don't so most people still choose the 4 cyl eclipses over v6, so with this new tib, people may have softer hearts for the good ol beta engine which is a very good engine for a stock 4 cyl. Its just so much easyer to mod than a 6 cyl. what yall think?

the 0-60 is 7.5 seconds not 8.1 and no your 2001 tiburon couldn't touch a v6 model on account of the 177 torque it has... didn't your momma tell you that hp is nothing and torque is everything cause it's true... pfff some people know nothing about cars... my 1998 elentra with only air and exhust can whip any unmodded 2001 tiburon i even beat one with exhust but that's nothing really... and for the mustang question, when mods some out for the tiburon such as camshaft, better air, exhust (because any base exhust can be improved) and if a company would actually make a p-chip for the new 2003 tiburon which i'm hoping they will because i'm guessing more people are going to be buying these tiburons then they did in the past then I would have to say that with mods i'm sure a tiburon could beat a v6 mustang... but purely base i would have to agree with mach5 it's all in the driver... you get some chick with an auto who will just slam the pedal down vs. a 6-speed i'd put my money on the tiburon anyday....

we will all know when we see both of them line up at the tracks or see time slips for the 2k3 tib.

first of all you question my kill of a punny v-6 mustang. And its not all torque, in case your to stupid to realize that, the driver counts alot too. Just because something has alot more torque doesn't mean it can bet someting with less torque so until next time Taa Taa

Well I do agree that mags don't mean sh#t on times. I just can't wait until I line up with a V6 tibby. I am pretty confident I'll beat him or be side by side with him. It weighs too much. The main reason why I think it's junk is the fact that it has a V6 and only 181 hP. Look at the integra type R. 4 cylinder and 195HP! Or the honda S2000 4 cyclinder 240Hp! Now thats impressive. 181HP ain't sh#t. I love hyundais but this was quite the let down compared to the 200Hp it was suppose to have.

This is cool, someone that does not read mags and assume what would happen in an actual head to head race! I'l have you know in my Elantra I beat up a newer V6 5-speed Mustang... maybe the guy didn't know how to drive but I raced him 3 times!! ? He acknowledged that I beat him!

Let's look at how long Honda has been building engines and how long Hyundai has been building engines. I think Honda started in like the late 30's early 40's, and Hyundai started in 70's? I am not say that is a complete excuse for what Hyundai is doing. But Honda can put some power down for an I4.
