Heck you can add in even more motors....
the Ford Focus Zetec 2.0L at 130 HP!
The Chevey Cav/Sunfire 2.4L at 150 HP
The probelm is they are still anemic compared to the "standard" that honda/Toyota and BMW have set.
BMW has recently raised the bar even higher with their new Variable Valve system (Check latest issue of SCC for the details of it). It is good enough that BMW did away with the Throttlebody completely, and just adjusts engine power/rpm by adjusting valve timing and lift, and their current Double VANOS system was damn good, better that hondas Holy VTEC.
For Toyota's, the Non VVTLi 1.8 is 140. That is the base celica engine with VVTL, the 180 1.8L is the VVTL-i engine. The 1.8L engine in the Corrola is de-tuned via the ecu to 125 from 140, but it is still VVTL.
The moral of the story the motor is anemic for the displacement, as is the mazda, ford, chevy..etc..etc..etc.. Of course, Hyundai is the only company that ever get's ripped for it.
