I just bought 15 inch rims for my elantra. I can't decide whether to get 205/50/15 size tires or 195/55/15. I am looking for good handling and comfort. Any suggestions? Pros and cons of each size?

i think 50's would be the best but don't take my word on it, i'm getting 205/50/15's aswell, but my rims are gonna be cheap ass $35

Yeah I was kind of leaning that way myself. There is definitely more fender gap with the 50 series tires though. Lowering will be necessary. I got a great deal on my rims too, $50 each! Could not pass them up.

Definately go for the 205...I'm a salesman for a well-respected tire company with a certain flying craft that loves sporting events, and I know that it's getting harder and harder to get a 195 tire...plus, with the growing trend of "low profile" tires on the rise, 50's will look better, in my opinion

195 /60/15 tires will spin 1041 rpms at 75mph
giving you a correct speedometer reading of 75

205/55/15 tires will spin at 1056rpms at 75 mph giving you only 74 mph

205/60/15 wil spin at 1021 rpms at 75mph givin you 74 mph

205/50/15 will spin at 1093 rpms at 75 mph giving you a reading of 71mph

too bad you already got your rims cause 17s look awesome on the elantra
imho i would not bother with rims unless I was going to a plus size fitment... just my 2 cents though

The 2000 elantra came stock with 14 inch wheels so I am plus sizing to a small degree. I would have liked to go bigger, but $ was a bit of an issue and the deal I got on the rims was fantastic.

go with either a 45 or 50 series tire. more for the protection of your rims than for the look. the bigger the side wall the more cusion from bumps. trust me i have 40 series and rims are all bent up
