What have you V6 sonata owners got your car to I have a 2000 model and i have gotten mines to like 124 mph thats was in WV and I wanna know was that the max or could i have gone faster ?

i think if u hold it for sometime u can squeeze a little more.I have gone upto 121 consistenly with out flooring it all the way .Well i could not actually can look down at that speed but i have gotten it up to 123 once [my friend was looking and screaming to slow down lol].
but i had 3 people and one was his rather big g/f [hopefully he does not come to this forum <img src=/images/forums/snitz/smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0> and read this]

Ha ha I hope he doesnt either I have always been in those numbers 121-123 but i think if we had a intake we might beable to hit like 130

fastest I have gone is 214 km/h (mph I wish hehe).

So after conversion

214 Kilometers per hour equals 132.973 Miles (statute) per hour

214 Kilometers per hour equals 115.551 Miles (International, nautical) per hour

So whatever you crazy American's use for MPH, from looking at the speedo, I think its the 133 MPH.

To get that extra bit, shift it out of D and put it in 3rd and red line it.

Avg speed travelling from one city to the other was at 127 MPH over a distance of about 60 miles.

So you guys should be able to pull more out of it!!! Like I said shift it into 3rd and let her redline O/D and the electronic govenor won't kick in that way.

Yup, i know tha top speed for the sonata is
on the 3rd rather than on D .Its starnge as i saw it tcg that the guys run faster on the 3rd.

I had 4 people in the car and one guy was easily over 200 pounds. The other was close to 200 pounds then there was me at 150 and my friend at around 140.

I dont recommend it though with the stock 14"s cause a slight belt shift cause of the crappy tires and your pretty well dead.

i thought we were on 15 " tires now i am confused maybe u guys in asia get 14".Anyway i am going to india to meet my parants and my dad drives a new sonata I4 and my old santro is running there so i will try to find some aftermarket .The factory is like 60miles from where i live and i heard that they have some good aftermarket in there sporting section .If so i am getting myself some stuff.
PS :The last i checked sonata out sold accords and accents are like the most relaible cars there and the after market is suppose to be good.

Sorry I got a custom Sonata pretty well. It was before the release of the GL V6. It is actually an I4 with the V6 swapped in by Hyundai.

I put up a tantrum and got the car for a little bit over $20,000 Cdn which is $4,000 less then what the GL V6 was selling for a couple monthes later.

The S/N is even officially for an I4 and even though I got to the same dealership all the time, they are always like "I forgot you got the V6 in there".

If you got the 15"s its all good though. I don't I only got 14"s and hub caps.

I've had my XG sitting steady on an indicated 135mph. How accurate is the speedo? Who knows, but that's what the needle pointed at <img src=/images/forums/snitz/smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0>

i've gotten my 2k sonata just past 125.
it's a gls 2.5 v6 on 15s.
took out the air cleaner & added a filter
that's about it. i'll give it to the wife when i get a better job. there's no performance parts anyway.

Hi there. I'm a new member and I have a 2002 Sonata with the I4 and 5 speed. A few weeks ago I was going to my friend's place which is about 50 miles away. It was between 40 and 45 degrees F, there was nobody on my side of the highway, and I had just past my 500 mile break-in period for the engine so I figured, what the heck. I threw it into 4th and floored it. I shifted back into 5th around 120 and kept it floored. Believe it or not, I was able to get up to 134 mph and keep it there! It sure did surprise the hell out of me.

Of course there are parts. Wait till the 2.7L Delta is released. Most parts will fit on the 2.5L Delta for example, intake headers, exhaust, and a couple other things.

Of interest to me.

I want to know what will happen if you put 2.5L Cams on a 2.7L. Interesting to those with new Sonatas?
