I have an annoying auto. Just afer purchasing the car the transmission went, and luckily it was a 2nd hand car from a dealer and was under warranty. They replaced the auto with a re-co and it is playin up a bit. The changes are sloppy and jerky. My mate whos a mechanic said that my tranny fluid is burnt out, very thin and long over-due for a change. Says it should have been changed even long before I got the car roughly 6 months ago. Is it possible the repairers used the same fluid from the old one? Would chaning the fluid be the answer or does it seem as if I may have other troubles with the tranny? If so, I aint gonna be happy

Check the fluid. There is 2 dipsticks in your engine. One for oil, one for transmission fluid. Should be labled. Wipe the stick off and redip. The fluid should be a pinkish color. If its darker or looks dirty, have it changed.

Dealer put in a rebuilt transmission? May not even be a Hyundai transmission! I would demand a new one, unless that was under contract and was ok to put in used parts.

I have attempted changing the fluid, but the store I got the gasket and filter from gave me the wrong filter...but my mechanic mate is makin one from some gasket paper at his work...waitin for him to rock up now!

As for the tranny swap, they said they were not able to get new ones but re-coed ones. And by judging the shards of metal I found in my fluid cap, the person who put it in was far from a mechanic...a true potch job! After new fluid goes in, I am going to be watching the fluid and if it burns out like the old far too quickly...I aint gonna be happy. I will send that thing off for repairs. I have about 5-6 months left of warranty, so if it stuffs up in that time I am gonna rip their heads off! The FIRST night I took the car home it buggered up with the tranny and one month later was changed...2 tranny changes during warranty? Not for me please.
