I would think that you would gain power cuz with 2 pipes there would be twice as much exaust that can be let out in the same amount of time as one pipe.....ummmm, did any of that make any sense?

Unless you were running boost, you would lose alot of back pressure. It's definitly a power killer on the Tibs by doing that..so I'm willing to bet the same thing will occur with an Accent, since there's less power with them.

You would lose a lot of power. A four cylinder engine needs a certain amount of back pressure from the exhaust in order to put out its optimum power.

I wouldn't recommend it .

If you were to combine the two 2-1 pipes, then you would basically have a really long 4-2-1 exhaust. if you plan on running 2 completely seperate exhaust pipes. drop the diameter down to 1.5" That is still the equavilant of a 3" exhaust for all 4 cylinders. You would lose a hell of a lot of low down torque, but gain on the top end. You would also need 2 cats, one per side, plus 4 o2 sensors, and something to read the 4 o2 sensor signals and make sense of the readings for the ECU.... You would also add a heck of a lot of weight for what would basically equal a wash performance wise...

I get the point its a bad idea.. but how is that getto if it is true duals?[/quote]

It's Ghetto if there is no increase in performance. Plus all the CRAP you'd have to go through to get it to work right.

Hell I think 99% of dual exhausts on V6's are ghetto becuase they are a single pipe up to the rear axle...then the split into duals. They could have saved weight and cost by just keeping it 1 pipe and having 1 muffler...
