I just learned that my girlfriends cousin has an Accent and told her that it was turbocharged. He also told her that it could beat my Tib. I think it's a 2000 Accent and even if it were turboed, I doubt he could afford internal modifications to make it a LARGE turbo. There's a good 3 second gap in the 0-60 times for the stock Tib and Accent, so would it be possible for him to beat my stock Tib? How fast might this turbo accent be?

If he has the 1.6L Accent, then he's only 1.5 seconds back in the 1/4 mile. A turbo Accent could easily beat a Tib.

If he is turboed it is totally possible for him to beat a tib depending on mods.

If he can afford a turbo to begin with why do you believe he could not afford the other mods?

I also do not believe there is a 3sec difference in 0-60 times between a Tib and 1.5ltr accent. There is only like a 1-2sec difference in there 1/4 mile times.

I've beaten several SOHC Accents by 2 or 3 car lengths in my Accent GT (0-60) and my new Tib is a hell of a lot faster.

Anyways, I was just thinking it would be very close and hoping that with a few mods, I would win. He just talked a lot of crap to my girlfriend and I don't want to get wasted if we happened to race.<img src=/images/forums/snitz/laugh.gif width=15 height=31 border=0>

I would put my money on the turbo accent against a stock tib.
That is if the work was done right.

Yes a Tib can be made a whole lot faster than the accent That is unless of course you put the 2.0beta,ecu and tranny in your accent which is about 600lbs lighter.

I agree, with the Accent, 1-60 2 - 3sec's difference are you crazy ??.... My DOHC 16v 1.5 is not turboed, just tuned nicely with NA, I beat Tib's all the time at the local 1/4 mile depending on the mods on the tib... Turbo, hell yeah it can beat the tib. At my local dragway there is a 1.5 running 14psi of boost, it beats Toyota GT Turbos....

Its alright bro, the only thing to understand, is that since the accent is lighter, the more HP he adds the greater the affect on his 1/4 mile and 0-60 times. I think Scrud was running what? 8 or 10psi? and was down in the high 14's.

I had a 96 Accent GT (hence the GT with the ricey R in my name :dead: long time ago). At the time of this post, I had just sold it. All I knew about the new 1.6's at the time was that they had the same hp as my GT but weighed more.

Well, I will put it to you like this... I just got home... On my way home I ran into a pimped out ZX3 Focus, Really nice looking , lowered, rims, exhaust is al I could tell. My car is running like crap, I threw a code earlier.:hmmm: I smoked him... Twice:evil: He got me out of the hole, (I spun) Double clutched, hit boost (only 6psi, I'm running crappy).. And still SMOKED him!:evil::evil::evil: Hehehe... Must be the new rims and tires.
