Can you trust it it's on eBay?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/97-0...002QQitemZ120007102669QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

And to ask the experts, would this be a good turbo? The trim dosent seem too much, but for the people who have been there before... It will be for a 97 elantra. I am assuming that the 2.0 and the 1.8 have the same exhaust openings and bolt patters. I never heard different.

I have a FMIC and the piping.. im just looking for a manifold and turbo. Turbo kits are waaaay too much..

Thanks.. ima noob at boost. NA, :smoking:no problem .. boost.. :hmmm: i dont know..

that turbo= ****.. manifold, u might wanna add some braces to it so it dont fall apart.

dont buy from ebay when dealing with turbo stuff, specially when its all knock off stuff. i would spend the $$ and do it right. u said you have IC and IC piping from where? obviously its probably made for a certain manifold and certain turbo, so whats it made for.
Im 99% sure thats the obx turbo manifold, decent. That turbo though will blow to pieces on first boost :dead:

Its universal piping, and the intercooler says Greddy on it, but i didnt know they made intercoolers. My freind bought it for his civic turbo project, but then he rolled it on the freeway. He bought it from our local import tuning shop.

Ok, yeah i figured it would be crap.. but i just wanted some feedback. I want a manifold like that, i think they look awsome.. but dam..

I should just save my money and get a kit, get it done, do it right.

Honest opinions here... who makes the best bang for the buck?

Sharkracing looks tempting, although steeply priced. http://www.sharkracing.com/acecart/bin/shop.cgi?action=view&itemID=turbokit_4_1_1&cate=010103000

Alpine developments is even higher, but comes with its own piggyback unit.. http://www.alpine-developments.us/id17.html

I dont know of anyothers. Thanks guys. I hope to have her under boost before fall.

DO NOT go with shark racing.
ALPINE is ok, but waste of money.. go custom would be ur best bet, or have Viper from rdtiburon build you a kit, with a Korean ECU, prob like 3000 total and ull have a VERY nice VERY high quality kit.

or just do what im doing, buy a whole turbo hyundai lol.
How many kits has one Viper produced? Does his kit have a decompression plate?.. why am i asking you?.. *goes to rdtib*
ill answer some ??s here. how much hp are you looking for?
Viper has produced a good amount of kits, and is probably THE best turbo kit maker for our cars right now. prices are good, he knows what hes doing.

if your running under 15psi, theres no need for decomp. plate, just need to have it tuned accordingly.
I dont want mad crazy hosepower.. just enough. Maybe 200 at the wheels. Thats a very very healthy estimate. my car has 140,000 miles on it, 15 psi is out of the question. I will be getting a SAFC II soon (in the mail) and that will be my tunning :ermm: I dont really think anything more then 10 psi. Im thinking or 6-8. Im new to the boost buis, but i know my stuff. Ill be getting a airrad intake manifold (when i find one) and a BBTB too.
at 140k ur gonna be screwed.

SAFC is crap for boost tuning on our cars.. get an emanage or SMT6 and get a boost rail, or go with the MS.

u wont need an air ram for 200whp. but get it if u want. but if your on a budget, i wouldnt

i would just get the korean MAP ECU for your tuning, and the basic kit from viper.. should be like 3000 shipped, and ur car will come tuned right when u plug in the ECU and u can piggyback it with the SAFC. i would rebuild your motor soon, or find a lower mile one (50k) so you can boost a lil higher, and not have to worry about being stranded.

with vipers kit, the ECU, and piggybacked SAFC with a reliable motor, you could push 220whp easy with supporting exhaust mods.
Yeah.. the motor is fine.. it was all freeway miles, well.. thats not good either. It dosen leak anyoil and has had regualar mantinece.

I will probally try to get a lower milage one and rebuild it will boost happy internals.
i thought u were on a budget. you dont need any internals til about 270-300whp.

why would you build it up?
I am.. no more than 3grand.

and im talking about later.. like after i blow up this engine lol.

Well.. to be honest the budget is one months pay.. about 2700.

Now that dosent look all that bad really...
ha.. 2700 net a month dood, highly doubt it.. but neways.. the turbo would be good, not for high high hp, but should be good for what you want..
It's probably gross...and I'm sure it's a psychological budget more than a real hard budget.

Wilbur's a good kid just needs to be pointed the right direction...;):

Why do you doubt he makes $2700 a month? That's not that much.
I work full time baby..

and yeah, it aint much, but im going to pour it all into my car.

Yeah, i like that turbo too.. it will work good for me. Like i said, i dont want mad crazy power. just enough.

Thanks so much Floyd. (/sarcasm) ;):
you could always go for the 16G turbo, a rebuilt one shouldnt be too much and would be better in terms of max hp, and its what a lot of DSM guys upgrade to from the 14b (tdo4H). or you could just check out my for sale thread: it includes t3super60trim turbo (needs rebuild) oil feed line, the exhaust flange for the DP, two -10AN fittings for the return line, and the return line. great power output, fast spooling. approx max hp 260whp
I am sure that the turbo in the original ebay listing would not be that bad. It would be a good beginning. Yes, add a few braces on the manifold, and the turbo of cheap construction, but figure you will only need around 600 dollars in extra parts to make it work in your car.

collector, oil lines, water lines, exhaust, intercooler, intercooler piping, air filter.
your SURE it wouldnt be bad? how sure? ive known of a few people that have bought the cheap ass ssauto turbos and these chinese turbos, and the compressor housings have split in half..
