Hey Doc....just curious...what's the best way to get rid of ulcers?

The reason why I ask is because the last year of my life has been very stressful and hectic. Lots of personal issues happened that is basically making me very happy that this year is almost over. Anyway...I went to the doctors, and they did some tests, and it came out that I have Gastrointestinal bleeding or whatever, caused by Ulcers. It's mainly caused from too much stress and worrying, and the doctor gave me these huge gigantic horse pills to take. I still have them, and it sucks because I get horrible stomach pains, and if I eat something that's real spicey...my stomach kills me, and I yuke up blood. I've spoken to the doctor again and again on this matter, and his only diagnosis is to take medication. Are there other ways to get rid of ulcers besides to stop worrying about things? *ha ha* Thanx for the help......

several things that need to be identified and then reduced or elinated that contribute to the development of ulcers:
-food allergies
-low-fiber diet
-cigarette smoking
-stress
-drugs (apirin and other nonsteriodal analgesics)

Once these factors are controlled or eliminated the next focus is on how to heal the ulcers and promote tissue resistance of further ulcer formation.

Diet
-whole unprocessed foods (whole grains, legumes, vegetables, fruits, nuts, and seeds
-eliminate dairy products
-exercise regularly
-drink at least 100oz.water/day

Supplements
-Multivitamin (nature's sunshine is one of the better one's you can get over the counter)
-vit C
-Vit E
-Flaxseed oil

Here's what I use for Ulcers,GERD, and or Heartburn:
-Deglycyrrhizinated Licorice Root (DGL)
This helps heal the ulcers: in fact, clinical studies demonstrate that DGL is more effective than the standard ulcer drugs.

Dude! You rock! Thank you so much! Where do I get that Deglycyrrhizinated Licorice Root stuff at? My diet is pretty good. I don't know if I'll be able to give up the dairy products though. Gotta love milk cheese, and eggs! I drink TONS of spring water. I go through about 2 gallon jugs a week of it. And I excercise almost every night.

I'll check out that Natures Sunshine stuff too. Is that DGL usually over the counter stuff? If not, I'll see if my doctor can prescribe it or something. Thanx again...
