Hi, got a bit of a prob with my '99 Tib's steering. It seems to really follow bumps in the road and at speed its quite vague.

The tires are brand new and I've been under the car to check all the suspension mounts. I'm conviced everything is as is should be so I'm wondering if this is just how these cars are?!

The car is completely stock and has done 55,000 miles.

Do other peoples tib's tramline? None of my other cars do this on the same roads.
I don't want to sell this car but I may have to if its a "characteristic"!

After I changed to a 17" low profile tire setup I found that if there was any sort of rut in the road it would pull the front of the car. It is unfortunate but I don't think there is anything you can do about it.

Thats dissapointing as I'm not running low profile at the moment. I was considering a new set of wheels with a different profile tyre, but I guess that isn't such a great idea.

That is only one drawback. There are many other benefits to having low profile tires.

Keep in mind hyundai tiburon have mcpherson struts, swaybar, stabilizer etc.

The hyundai tiburon is not supposed to perform like that.
Recommend to get a suspension specialist to complete, if you have not done yet
- wheel alignment on all wheels, wheel balance
- mechanic to check condition of suspension, bushes, camber etc.

my car has done approx 98,000 miles.
suspension performance was very good for 6 years, except for the last two months
The shock absorbers was supposed to be replaced when it was about 60,000.
Its showing the same driveability as your car, but I've just turbocharged my car in the last two months.

I'm planning to overhaul my suspension.
Installed a 17inch sparco wheels six months ago, the only affect I noticed was I lost a little bit of turning circle and changed tyres to 215 front, 235 back.
So it didn't scrub on my mudgards.

So it is conceivable that the shocks maybe worn as I am nearing 60000 miles. I will get the geometry checked as thats nice and easy.

If I find that the shocks need replacing, can anyone recommend a decent brand. I don't mind going with gas shocks etc but I am not looking to lower the car.

What you are referring to is bump steer. When you go over a bump left or right side of the car that is the side your car pulls to. From what I have heard this is a very common attribute with light cars riding on a tuned sport supension. I know my tiburon doesn't exhibit this kind of behavoir excessively, but it is present in the slightest amount. I don't think it would really be the shocks. I have 73K on mine and the suspension still feels pretty good.:smoking: Hope this helps. Anybody correct me if I am wrong.
