ok i have a 97 auto tibby..what is the lil button that says pwr/norm near the auto stick? what is the purpose of this button i usually left it alone until one of my friends who has a auto saturn got something installed into his car which now has the same button in the same spot but his says perf/norm

I'm guessing its overdrive on/off button. Not sure though. Mine is a 5 spd stick. If it is, make sure overdrive is on.

I'm pretty sure I know what your talking about. You should have to buttons, one located on the shifter itself (towards the driver's seat) and the other one (the one you refer to) at the passenger's side, next to the gear indicator (P-R-N-D-2-1). That button is to change the program the auto tranny uses to go from one speed to another. You can test it, when set to pwr (power) the ranny stays longer on a gear, getting more power out of the engine, I mean, it shifts at higher rpm.<img src=/images/forums/snitz/wink.gif width=15 height=15 border=0>

no there is a button on the Tibs that does say pwr and Nor. This switch helps to control the way your car shifts.

When it is in the Normal state, you transmission will shift smoother and a lot easier.

Power position is for when you are going through the gears at high throttle. This option shifts faster and different from the normal.<img src=/images/forums/snitz/thumbup.gif width=25 height=18 border=0>
