Well damn man that does suck they are drag limited too eh...Why the make it more complicated than the accent and elantra, Taking out the limiter on the tranny will be nice but I guess youll need some mods to get it up there.
Hmmmm....let's see, for Tibs: say if you remove the "big-ass spoiler" and swap in a foreign or hi-po manual trans, THEN what speeds can we hit?? <img src=/images/forums/snitz/smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0><img src=/images/forums/snitz/evil.gif width=15 height=15 border=0><img src=/images/forums/snitz/smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0><img src=/images/forums/snitz/laugh.gif width=15 height=31 border=0>
hahaa, well lets just run this in cartest. remove the limiter and use stock gearing, with 220 hp 180 ft lbs you can hit 145 mph , now change the gearing, lets make the final 4.00 and 5th .71 , 151mph , humm thats about it but lets give it more power, 250 hp now oooh, 154 mph, but notice it took another 30 hp to get it 3 mph faster, thats drag for ya. Btw this thing does the 1/4 in 14.6 sec with that gearing , gearing sucks doesn't it. OH if your interested, I ran the 2.7L v6 on stock 99/00 Elantra AUTO gearing lets see, the 1/4 in 15.5 and tops at 137 mph at 5700 rpm, too much drag from then on.
yo guys, to find out how much horse power you need to go a certain speed (assuming your car is unlimeted) just plug the numbers into this equation--0.000007*frontal area*0.08*drag coefficiant(0.333 for the J2 elantra)*speed you want to go cubed(to the 3rd power) have fun!!!<img src=/images/forums/snitz/cool.gif width=15 height=15 border=0>
