About an hour ago I was racing a guy in his Honda Accord and lost. It looked like the newer coupe but I didn't notice if it was the 200hp V6 or the 150hp 4-cylinder. He didn't win by much; it was about a car length and half and no more. It sounded like he had an aftermarket exhaust…I could hear it over my blazing music, I guess he was really punching it on the gas during the race. Also from the looks of it he might have had V-AFC on his dash. After the race I gave him a smile and node to show that I am a good sport and in return he did the same (what cool guy). LOL
I really like the car and all but if he had the V6 and he only beat me by one car length...am laughing! If it was the 4-cylinder...then it was a good race.

His car looked like it had some mods and he also had some nice rims but basically
this is what his car looked like

Hmm...I did not know that.
And he only beat me by one car length against my automatic stock tib.
So I guess it's not such a great car after all or his just a bad driver.lol

In that race we hit a red light every block so I guess if we didn't hit a red light I might of beat him. I got bored anyways so I just went home.

Blue Shark, it was probably the V-6.
Consumer reports gave the Accord these 0-60 times...
EX 5 spd 4 cyl-8.5
EX auto V-6-7.6
I always look on the back of an Accord for the "v-6" signature,
just so I know what I'm getting myself into...the 4 banger would be
too close to call against my 5-spd
Elantra.

Can always look at the duals for the V6 and the single for the I4. Thats the easiest way to tell the difference ;)

A whole car legnth is worse than all you guys think. A car legnth = about one whole second...which is bad. A close race is a quarter of a car legnth or less...a whole car and you're spanked...and those cheeks be rosy!

Mateus,

Car length severity depends on how fast you are going...

If you are only doing 20mph then a car length is really bad.

If you are doing 60mph then it is an entirely different story.

Well I guess he had a V6 because he did have dual exhaust.

Mateus,
Cottonmouth is right, it depends on how fast you are going. If I was doing 20mph(30kph) and he had a car length on me...I would of shot myself.

Cars vary in length, and I don't know if anyone has
really looked at the subject of
"one car length equals?" I have considered the subject, and timed cars going by me (at the roadside)
with a stop-watch. At freeway speeds
(65 to 75 mph) it appeared that cars
seperated by one length would cross
a line directly in front of me about
3 10ths of a second apart. The faster the cars are going the less time a car length would represent.
At slow speeds a car length might
equal a second of time...very slow A full second IS a significant difference in a drag race, a car length is not...any driver can vary that much one run to another on the track...better launch, better shift etc.

2 Things to note, 1 they make aftermarket dual exahust kits for the Accord coupe 4cyl, and you did mention it had an aftermarket exahust, so toss that out the window. 2, in short stints, the Accord's are absoulte cows, on the highway where they can stretch their legs, I have a hard time keeping up with V6's in the GS-R's.. definatley not to be laughed at on the highways!
