Okay, this may seem to be a stupid question, but...
I'll start with the basic background, I'm a SCCA member, and currently in Solo 2. Me and my wife just bought a new 2001 Tib, we both love it, but the wife doesn't want me to "destroy" {} the new car in racing. Fine, so I will get my own!
Now the question, does the specs of the older Tibs (96-99) match those of the newer ones (2000-2001) ? What I mean, is the suspension, Engine, and more importantly, the Tranny (man I REALLY like the 2001 tranny, 5 speed that is) the same? If it is, I'll just buy me an older one and tweak it out. If not, back to the car lot!
PLz, someone with any clue to the specs of these year models, let me know... Thanks...

They're the same . Just make sure you don't get one of the 1.8L Tibs.

Kool, thx for the quick reply, but what about the weight of the car and the suspension?

The weight might be a little different, but the suspension is the same. Pretty much the only difference between the two cars is cosmetic (interior, exterior).
