somone tells me 2003 and up accents have double edged syncros, but i cant find anything on it... were there any changes made to the accent gearbox at all, in or around 2003???

My 2001 Accent had a difficult gear change and the Hyundai dealership upgraded my gearbox with a double cone synchro kit under warrenty. They said it was a common modification to Accent transmissions. Doesn't really answer your question but I hope it helps.

Having owned a 2002 Accent and now a 2005, I can say that the shift effort on the '05 is alot better than on the 2002. For example going from 1st to 2nd I found with the old Accent that you had to go a little slower shifting than with the 2005. I would attribute this to some kind of improvement to the Synchros used in the transmission.

do you know if there were any changes to the gearbox in 2003?

there may be changes in the ratios, that seems to be the only thing that changes
