Al,
I don't want to dampen your enthusiasm but unless you are experienced in woking with fibreglass then I would suggest you start out with something small as a practice run (maybe try a hood scoop).

To start you will need more than just resin and fibreglass mesh, you will also need moulds. Where do you get the moulds?
Unlikely you would be able to buy them and if you could the cost would far outway the cost of the body kit.
Do you make the mould yourself? Well you could but it would be bloody dificult and you would probably need another body kit to use as a template.

My advice is to do your research before you go out and buy your materials. You may just decide it is better to save up your dollars and buy a kit.

Good luck whichever way you go.

First of all, making mold, unless you have experience will be a bit*h. I suppose you can use the existing part to make small changes.
As far as fiberglass goes, try automotive paint supply stores. There is one in every American town. You will find fiberglass that are easier to sand. While you're down there, get some nice 3M dust mask. You'll need it.

I hate to be negative but if you have to ask where to get it then it is probably safe to assume that you do not have enough experience to build your own boddy kit.

People go to tech schools for a couple of years before they can do this type of work. And sometimes it will still take several years before they are any good at it.

If you still decide to give a go at it then good luck. Who knows you may end up being a natural

i have some knowledge with working with fiberglass, and i never want to work with it again. i used to make pool filters, all from moulds. these ranged from very small filters for the small pools, to GIANT filters (about the size of a small bus) for olympic sized swimming pools that went around the world.
i hate to tell you this, but you will need at least a few years doing it to do a body kit that you will drive around. another thing you will need is a catalyst when finishing it of. how do you plan to apply the fiberglass, with a fiberglass gun? i hate to tell you this, but it will be more trouble than it's worth, and it could end up more expensive
