I'm looking for some mods that will increase my 2001 Tibby's HP from 140 to 160+. I think K&N filter is must to increase horsepower upto 10(which is also easy to install), but is there anything else (that doesn't cost a lot to purchase and which is also easy to install) that can boost my Tibby's HP (and performance)?

Cold Air Intake, Exhaust, Nitrous Oxide (shudder). Or you could go the ricey way, and add a 60 hp "yellow" sticker....hehehhe...

sup man, just for your info, and to help you out in your quest for HP... first off you don't have 140hp, you have 140 flywheel-horse power, which from what has been tested if you have a:

5-speed = 115-120 wheel-HP
AUTO = 100-105 wheel-HP

and the most important thing for you to understand, a K&N filter on your engine collecting HOT AIR will in no way give you 10hp if anything you might even be losing hp... so don't go by what many places tell you, do some more research, you will leave tons in this forum, just have fun as you're looking for info... <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

I believe they came up with somewhere between a 10-15 horsepower gain if I am not mistaken.

well here's the thing and it's something more for you to learn...

A CAI, any CAI is built with the purpose of collecting air from anywhere away from the engine bay, that's why most intakes are located by the wheel wells, just like ours...

Also with this in mind you have to understand that there's no true way of testing and intake no matter what all those HONDA COMPANIES POST, since the only true way of testing it would be with a moving dyno, which run lots of money, or in a wind tunnel to simulate the speed or air and the temperature of the wind can be played with...

but our CAI's have been tested, there's more tests to come just because we've realized that there's something too weird out there with DYNO MACHINES, or the way they are being calibrated, cause too many different dynos have shown different numbers, so soon I will try and have at least 3 5-speeds/3 autos going to the same DYNO place to have their runs... and then I feel we will have a more accurate reading...

but as far as now, the 5-speeds on a <b>still</b> dyno has shown 4-5 wheel HP and the autos have tested at 3-4 wheel HP, but then again many speculations have been made of the true HP produced by the intake while the car is in motion collecting colder air, that it can be anywhere from 7-10whp I would have to say anything over 12whp is a little too much...

The Version 1 CAI doesn't allow you to add a By-Pass Valve, where as the Version 2 does. A By-Pass Valve is a small part that you add to a CAI where as if you get water up into your intake, the By-Pass Valve won't let the water in your engine causing Hydro Lock.
