ok, heres the pic:

first off, im wondering what exactly the thing in the top pic is thats circled in red?(this is not my car, just a pic im useing) for some reason i wanna say "PCV (PVC?) valve" but i kno thats over under the fuse box... im sure its got something to do with the evaporative emissions control or something like that tho..i guess? its got one tube going to where the rubber stock connector would be in the place of the intake, and another short hose going to the manifold right after the tb. is this a pressure sensor or something? cus in that case, i guess i couldn't do what i want to do... which is put in a bend there, without figureing out how to attach that hose into it like this guy has done, and instead put a little breather filter there (bottom rendition..gotta love my 5 min art skills)

thanks for any help!

What that does is take blowby gases from the crankcase and release them back into the intake manifold, to be bured and expelled. Its called positive crankcase ventilitation. Any gases that pass the piston rings go through there, and putting a breather filter on there will void your emmissions bullshit with the local state assholes.

alright..thats great but i jsut had my emissions done and wont have to for a good while again (plus it'd be a reversible thing) What i wanna kno is..will it hinder/hurt/change/other the performance/reliablity/other of my car if i do that? if i do that there, would that be ok, or would i have to change other things to nullify or completely bypass it totally? or would it be ok? i dunno, do u?

Bullcrap! That's your idle speed actuator... it controls your car's idling speed... your PVC valve is screwed into your high-quality valve cover under that actuator. You can put a filter on it if you want to do away with the hose. It will not affect emissions

Devildog is right, that is not the PCV valve. Looking at the valve cover, the PCV valve is the first fitting to the left of it. Your K&N (or other brand) PCV breather filter would attach there.

Putting a breather filter on the idle speed actuator would have the car sucking hot air at idle!

Hmm gues who is not a master tech after all?

Just so you know the PCV valve is attached to the crankcase.

Good job on reading what a PCV valve does but maybe you should have also looked to see what one looks like before you replied.

It is the lil nut like thing attached to the the valve cover with a hose plugged into it. (atleast on the accent)

Like Rob said evertime you Fvck up we will be there.

I am not in any competition or battle of wits. I just wanted to prove a point that we all make mistakes. Normally I would never call someone out on a mistake like that instead I would just make a simple correction. But 954door likes to act like a know it all and called me out on a mistake I made. All I have ever seen him do is repeat others and pass off info like his own. I can admit I do not know everthing about cars but I do not go around these forums flaming peeps like he did.

But to clear things up that is NOT a PCV valve

Its for the idle. It has a little blade in it like a turbo. Here is an experiment for you. Start your car, get out and go pinch that tube completely shut and see what happens Watch the idle change drastically.
