voting on the topic today I noticed that 39% of you hate the new tibs........why? is it not nice to finaly have hyundai build a car that is capable of competeing with other imports? these new tib gt's are fast, finaly able to put the all important "WHOOP A$$" on jettas, integras, and even the new rsx's...it astounds me that people on a hyundai performance website don't care about PERFORMANCE is insane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Uhm what do you mean finally? The 4cyl Tib competed rather well with other imports. Oh ad by the way to say we don't care about performance is insane. As of right now it seems the 4cyl Tib can me modded and boosted to produce alot more hp than the V6 tib can.

Also just so you know most of the people rating the car were rating it on looks. Cause the 2003 4cyl Tib is pretty much the same car just with a different body.

I don't know about anyone else on this website, but when someone beats me with a V6 I geive them $#!T because they have an extra 2 cyl on me. I like the way the new one looks AND the idea of V6.

Jesus Christ..........didn't mean to get nasty, but here.........i'll explain a little calmer, yeah you can mod the hell out of a 4, you can also mod a six, and an equally moded out 6 will demolish a 4. that's just cold hard fact. sorry if no one wants to face the truth about that. With an intake headers and a good exhaust system(reworking) the pipes, you're going to have that v6 tib pushing over 220 hp at the crank, and close to 200 at the tires, there is a turbo and a super charger in the works for the v6 as well, all of this equals----death to 4 banger rice burners! in the end, when all else is equal, there is no replacement for displacement!! now i'm sorry, i don't want to piss any one off, but THAT'S THE DAMN COLD HARD TRUTH!!

Ok let me explain the cold hard facts to you.

#1 I am well aware of the fact that turbos are in the works for the new tib. We are the ones working with Ballistic to develope a TT setup.

#2 Let us go on price. With the money you save on the 4cyl you can put into it and blow the V6 away. You add I/H/E to the 4cyl Tib (aprox $1000) and you are already beating the V6

#3 I know that with the same mods the v6 is stomping the 4cyl but what I said that it is possible to run alot more boost to the 4cyl than to the V6.

#4 It will take a little bit more than I/H/E to add 40hp to even the V6

#5 even though you may have the v6 you are still a rice burner.

#6
quote:
there is no replacement for displacement!!

So why didn't you just go get a V8 then? Cause you sound like a mustang driver.

#7 Why the hell are you even posting this?

Read what a 1.5ltr can be tuned to do.

Most of us here drive 4cyl cars and listen to the same type of crap you are spewing out from people who drive V8s. Then we just take a lil knowledge and some tuning skills then we take their pride down at the tack.

I've killed lots of V6's, Intrepid, Grand Prix ect... I have also taking out two of my friend's V8's and all I have is a 97 Tib FX 2.0L.

So don't talk crap about the 4 cyl's. They're faster than you think they are

For the logical reply: most people who don't like it don't like the styling. There are a lot more show than go folks in here, thats all.

As for autobot, just ignore him. He gets sand in his slit from time to time when people don't see things his way.

Skierd if you pull that cock out your mouth you will see I didn't flame anyone in this post but simply stated a few of the facts. I am not saying the 4cyl Tib is better than the V6 or is the V6 better than the 4cyl. Just simply stating the fact that they are two different cars and both have tuning potential. It will be fun to see what the V6 will be capable of but don't ignore the 4cyl just cause the v6's are out.

Can't take your own medicine it seems...

And BTW, i'd hafta say i'm part of that 39%. There's just something about the new tib that just doesn't click with me.

How do you figure? The v6 starts out with more hp than the I4, and stands to gain more power per mod than the I4 (more displacement). You could most likely get 235whp outta the v6 without forced induction. That will not happen with the beta (not easily anyways).

I do believe you meant to refer to the strength of the delta motor over the beta though. As it stands now, the beta is stronger. However, the v6 in the new tib (and the rest of the v6's i'd assume) are being made in a new way. These motors could end up being MUCH stronger.

Agreed

Also agreed "These motors could end up being MUCH stronger." But as of right now we do not know that they are or that they will be.

I will also add that the main point my original statement is that the Tiburon has always been a car that performs well and is a perfect base for anyone interested in tuning. (but I guess that was too hard for you to see with that cock in your mouth.)

I would also like to add that personally I do like the new style of the new Tib even better than the old and that if I was going to get one that it would be the V6. But I will also say that I would wait a little longer to buy one for a couple reasons.
#1 I would like to get a good price and right now most people are lucky if they get it any where near sticker.
#2 I would never buy a car when it 1st comes out. Almost every car has bugs and kinks that need to be worked out I would rather buy the car after that has happened.

[ 03tibbyboy: death to 4 banger rice burners ]

Calm down dude! "What do you mean by death to 4 banger rice burners?" What's wrong with 4 bangers?

You like V6..you go with V6. Others like I4.....they will go with I4.

Someone is a idiot..
Pistons in a nice straight line= More boost.
4 clynder is lighter than a 6 DUH! and red lines higher than the v6 tiburon from what I heard..
Look at the ITR motor, Light as hell and can revs higher ( 9200 rpms ).

Well, looks like im in that 39% too. I was going to get a new 2003 tib, but i drove the v6 & wasnt that impressed(it was fun cause of the power & speed, other than that its just a car) I had a 2000 tiburon that i totaled....but i loved that car & its 1 of the most fun cars ive ever driven. I also drove a auto l4 & its just not as fast as the last 2 models(cause of weight) I only drive auto cause i live in the city & im in traffic alot, however im still going to mod mine out....not totally, but at least ie maybe a header too. From the way i look at it....i judged the cars on the fun factor, the sn2 body style was more fun to me, nothing to do with engines or looks really, i like the way they both look. The 2nd body style is just more comfortable to me, but that may be because i already had 1.

just my $.02

BTW, 03tibbyboy some of those votes could have also been made by non members or trolls that just wanted to screw it up. Basically it is not a perfesct system.

Now since you have only been a member here for a day that is not a very good way to make friends on a board that consists mostly of I4s. I will assume that since you do own a Tib that you plan on sticking around and learning and possibly even showing us a thing or two.

So now say your sorry or I will have to come and kick you in the nuts.

Keymotorsports is already making 230 in the v6 and survived their first 2hr balls to the wall race around Daytona with no engine incidents. I know for a fact in the Grand-Am series you are not allowed to deviate the engine from factory tolerances i.e. build up the bottom end.

I like the new tib and will be trading for my carbon blue GT v6 on Wednesday.

The real post should be why are so many people voting to say they like ugly ass, over done, played out, did I say ugly? clear tailights.

OK let me CLARIFY on my post for those of you that forgot how to READ. 4 cyl 235 hp WITHOUT BOTTOM END modifications...ie. connecting rods and what not. THe new delta v6 has trouble with anything over 200 hp because of the WEAK BOTTOM END. NOW yes it will create much more hp if you decide to replace the internals but what i am saying WITHOUT BOTTON END modifications the 4 cyl can handle much more and cost much less. I think that we all know that in the long run you will get more power and torque out of a larger displacement engine than a smaller displacement but obviously you didnt read every word that i wrote. Make that a common practice before you decide to disagree with me.
