[Aussie_Accent]

I've just bought a 2000 Accent and, with it being my first car and me not knowing much about cars but being eager to learn, i'd like to see what modest engine modifications can be performed to achieve more power at less cost..
i'd also like to hear modest ideas for stereo installations or examples of your own..

Go see Paul at HVE, he will get you set up. Since you are in AU, I am guessing you have the 1.5l DOHC motor. Personally, I would start with HVE intake, exhaust (cheapest starting point), then depending on budget, go with extractors (headers), bored TB, and billet cams.

Assuming you don't have 13" pizza cutters for wheels, a good set of tires will perform nicely. If you do have 13" wheels, toss them in favour of 15" or better. 15" are nice since you can get decent performance tires for considerably less than the larger diameters. For suspension, start with springs and struts (the best you can afford), then go with tie bars, and rear sway bar.

For stereo - small, light, and powerful. I hate to load my car down with amps and subs (different strokes!), so a good head unit, good speakers, and I'm done! (but car audio is at the absolute bottom of my priorities - no offence to car audio buffs!)

I tell you, if I had HVE in my back yard, life would be a whole lot easier!<img src=/images/forums/snitz/thumbup.gif width=25 height=18 border=0>

i'm not sure how big my wheels are..
they're mags, but i think the previous owner was a like a chick or somethign coz they look to be standard sized..
wheels are low on my priorities right now coz of thier price, as a part time waiter the cash doesn't flow to largely..

Seriously I am a suspension guy. I love good handling cars. Get a good set of springs. Something like Eibach. Also get a set if strut tower braces. <img src=/images/forums/snitz/thumbup.gif width=25 height=18 border=0>
