i'd guess there's no difference, whether the wheels are steel or aluminum. just a snug tight fit.

the biggest mistake i ever made was to take off my wheels one saturday using penetrating oil. i put my wheels back on and tightened to a snug fit. by monday the natural rotation undid all the nuts on one of the wheels and it came off when i was driving the car. when the wheel came off, the front of the car collapsed and the wheel broke thru the fiberglas front fender and went bouncing down the road into a ditch.
never used WD-40 on my wheel nuts ever since.

I've always used around 70-75ft lbs of torque for lug nuts, although you really need to check with the maker of the wheels before tightening the nuts too much.
