There's going to be a Dyno Showdown for all the CAI's on the market for Tibs. They will be tested twice so there's no error, and the final numbers will be posted. After that, make your own descisions about which ones you think are the best for the money...

KORE
AOS
and I am sure the Sharkracing one will be nice too when it comes out.

As of right now I would buy the KORE intake but we will be testing all of them soon and will publish the results.

Oh yeah...and here's the post at TSR about the Shark Racing Intake. It was fitted on a test car and taken out for a spin.

Regarding the shootout between CAI's, how are they going to test them?
Will they all be tested on the same car?
You say a Dyno Showdown, but a dyno will not give the same result as on the road/track because you cannot simulate the air flow. IMO track testing is the only true way to compare. Say two runs stock and two runs with CAI, same car, same driver, same day. You won't get a HP figure but the E/T's & T/S's would be a good comparison. You could use a Gtech as well but fuel load will drop during the tests and distort figures.
Anyway my point is I hope when they test they eliminate as many variables as possible.

They will be all tested on the same car and Each run will be hooked up to Random's OBD2 datalogger, so we'll have airflow and temperature information too.

No matter how you test there could always be a dispute of some type but we will do the best we can to make the test as fair as possible.

remember one thing everyone, if you get a cai you do not want it to go under the battery! it may be a better filter but what good is it gonna do if it gets clogged every other week from all the dirt it sucks up? i have a ractive cai w/ heat shield and all i did was attach the filter directly to the max air flow sensor, i clean it every 3-4 months and i have had no problems, i would rather sacrifice the 2hp for the slightly warmer air it gets, over a clogged filter every week any day

When you install an air filter to the end of the MAF you will find that you do not get any real gains cause even if you suck in more air you will now suck in hot air. Having the heat shield will not matter if the filter is located in the middle of the engine bay cause hot air is all that swirls around in there.

As far as the filter getting clogged I have not realy heard of anyone complaining about it but even if it does need cleaning a little more we all make sacrifices for hp.

Canada has a more severe climate too!
