Just a suggestion before you get ready to buy a new tranny.
Go to the mitsu site and ask questions about gearing in different trannies. You may find that one year has a better gear ratio than another. I am sure that you are not stuck to a tranny from a 1990 4g63t motor.
For instance I am doing the 2.0 beta swap in my accent but I plan on getting the tranny from a 1.8ltr Tib. The gearing is set up better for a 1/4 mile car.<img src=/images/forums/snitz/thumbup.gif width=25 height=18 border=0>
