I had my GT since October, and so far I'm close to 5,000 miles...yikes!! My Sentra has over 165k miles, stills run perfect, and it still hasn't gotten a proper tune up yet. If the Hyundai can make it to at least 150K, without any major breakdown, they'll have a customer for life.
I have two 99 Elantras
My wifes has 67,000
Mine has 56,000
No major problems.
Both cars have had to get new plugs and wires.
On both the stock wires cracked and arced into the head. Simply replaced'm and on the way.

My 96 Elantra has 89700 Km (That's nearly 56K miles as you probably know). The only problems I've had are spark wires (45K miles) Steering pump bearing (52 K miles) and recently the camshaft chain (I mean, not the belt, but the chain that moves both camshafts). Oh, and something unexpected I was forgetting, a broken internal door handle.

My 2K1.5 GT has about 17.6K on it, and I am doing about 1K per week, at least... that means by the end of the second year, my powertrain warranty will be up
