Are you talking about the 2003 redesign? 2002 is the same design as 2000 and 2001. I would love to get the new one, we'll see after it comes out. The trade in on my car won't be much though, and insurance will be high on that car

No way, I love the shape of my 2001! I am disappointed of the new Tiburon...What's going on? Honda are doing the same mistake. Manufacturers have a beautiful design that people like and after a few years, instead of working of that design, they make a new one without the parts people liked!!! Example, the Tiburon has a unique body shape which people notice right away compared to other cars. Look at the 2003 Tiburon, the body unique body shaped is now a boring like most cars. The side of the car had the shape of the new mustangs, the front and the hood of the car is straight and no longer aggressive. Might as well place this car in the Touring category. There's much more I can add but I'm sure that many of you know already. But one thing I need to mention, V6 engine with only 181hp??? Stock Tiburon will always have a hard time to compete in it's class as far as horsepower goes! So, as you can see, my answer is no. I will not trade my 2001 Tiburon SE which is much nicer exterior and interior with the new model which loss it's shape and agressiveness for more money!!!

I'm not too impressed with the numbers on the V6, kinda expected 200+ HP.
As for the looks, eh, it's ok... it doesn't stick out at me and say "look at me" like my first gen did when I saw it,..

But I'll wait and see,... probably not though, since I only have like 25000km on my car (approx 16000 miles) and it's a '99. And I still love it!
We'll see I'll take the new one for a spin and see how I like it.

Tibusaki, actually a hell of a lot more people like the 2003 Tiburon body style. Mostly non-Hyundai owners, which is who Hyundai needs to convert .

I am definately getting a 2003 V6 6-speed. I had already talked to my dealership and they have already created the order for it so the second they are released to the public its mine.

Sure 181hp sounds low compared to the competition. You have to remember though, the competition has 3.0L and Tiburon has a 2.7L which means less weight. Especially when you comapre it to the Accord V6, Mitsu Eclipse V6. No doubt we will be seeing some good fuel economy from the 6-speed. I haven't looked too closely but just for comparisons sake:

city/hiway
Sonata V6 2.7L 20/27 (auto)
Eclipse V6 3.0L 20/28 (manual)
Accord V6 3.0L 20/28 (auto)

So really when you think about it, when you put a manual in the Sonata (I couldn't find info on the manual for the Sonata) you will probally be getting 21/30 maybe? For being someone still in college, I prefer spending more on the car then on gas etc.

Plus insurance (well mine) doesn't ask for the badging or # of cylinders at least not for my Sonata. So well maybe you can get a deal there.

Actually I think I read somewhere that the new Tib actually beat the RSX (dunno wether Type-S) but still even if it wasn't it beat a car that is like at least 3-4 grand more with similar options. I think that the new tib will fair well in it's price range. Yes maybe not in it's motor class but... we've got some ppl working on that (right KORE), so for about the same money as another V6 say Accord (25K) and you will EAT that car up for sure... for around 5 grand, I'm sure you can do well over 19 HP to go get that 200 the accord or RSX Type-S has. And have a car that weighs considerably less.!!

Heck once I strap a body kit on my car screw the 2003 Tiburon. I mean it's nice and all and the hp is nice and could smoke the current Tibs, but have fun with the insurance costs on that thing. I mean the insurance on a 2001 Tiburon is basically equal to a civic.. I mean the 140 hp might be equal to what it is now, but if you ask me the new Tiburons will weigh a lot more than the current one. So if your going for the 140 might as well stick with the 2001. Also I'll get a whole lot more stares then in a 2003 Tiburon. Most people don't pay attention to the cars on the road to much and will overlook the 2003 thinking it's a Mustang or some other look a like car. Yet none the less I applaude Hyundai on a job well done redesigning the Tiburon.

Wow, I love how this racing story gets so twisted around.

The cars that were raced both belong to APC. It was the APC 2003 Tiburon and the APC 2002 RSX-S. They were raced on APC property down in Cali. The driver of the Tib was a slightly better driver than that of the RSX. The Tib won by a few carlengths. With equal drivers it will be a close race.

Hyundai has estimated the 0-60 time to be in the low 7s, so I'm guessing low 7s/high 6s for a 0-60 time.

Nobody is sure of the 1/4 mile time yet.

I think the new Tiburon is beautiful. Although I do like the current Tib, it seems most people do not. I am definitely not one to follow the masses, but Hyundai needs to attract more buyers and the new Tiburon is going to do that. If that occurs current Hyundai owners will benefit.

I would like to. Have to test drive and see what I can get for my trade in. I'm on the list to get a phone call from the dealer here as soon as they get one in.
