Hey all I haven't been able to find any infomation about this. I've had my 03 tib for about a week now and every so often after the car is turned off the day time running lights come on by themselves as well I have no back light on my gage cluster. they will not turn off unless i go out start the car and turn it back off again and it doesn't do it at any specific time.

I was wondering if anyone has seen this happen or might have some info on why this might be happening

Might be a dadgy relay...
Might be earthing out and completing the circuit....
Arent the lights activated by the release of the hand break...?

they are normally activated with the release of the handbrake but it continues to happen when the car is parked and not running
there was a aftermarket alarm system starter in it could be possibly causing the problem

Do you have an automatic lock feature for your alarm...
Like if you get out and shut the doors after say 30sec it will engage the alarm and lock the doors??

Do you have a flashing confirmation with the alarm??
ie:
1 flash for lock, 2 flashes for unlock or something...

Is is predictable or is it random?
Are there conditions where it will always happen??

Was the alarm installed by a professional?
Was the kit a good brand or an ebay special?

Double post:
Actually it might be that the daytime running lights circuit is earthing out...
Check and clean all the earth's on the car relating to the DRL circuit...
Look for frayed or broken wires...
Have you tried replacing the relay??

The brain of the alarm system has been removed from the car because it made no difference, and no there is no automatic locking feature, since I bought the car the alarm system did not function correctly
It is completly random there is absoultly no pattern to what it does atal, and it doesn't seam to matter where the car is.
As to where it was installed I am not sure because it was in the car when i bought it and hoping it was installed correctly
I'm hoping to take it to a professional to have it investigated further

And the alarm system was a Compu star alarm/starter
