For all who want to make their custome air intakes for ONLY a 2001 this is the explanation, and pictures will be coming soon. I ordered my camera from $%#% best buy and they are taking longer to ship that than ALL my parts for the car.
Here is the list of things to buy. SHould max out at about 100 bux for a good setup. NO BS setups, or WAI's.
Parts:
from Auto Parts, Motorcycle Parts, Car Parts, Truck Accessories & Parts, Auto Accessories - JC Whitney
1 - 180* mandrel bent aluminized pipe for 8.99 Inner Diameter: 2 3/8"
2 - 45* mandrel bent aluminized pipe for 5.99 Inner Diameter: 2 3/8"
Your straight from JCWHITNEY!! if you are hungry for parts get a turbo flow muffler or something i dont know!! :devious:
listen to some sweet techno like DJ Tiesto - Wings of Love while you do this, cause it is the s@%.
OK, more stuff youll need
4 - Silicone Couplings (RED) 2 1/2"
6 - Metal Reducing Clamps youll figure the right size out, get them at the plumbing store.
just take your pipes when they come in and make sure they will fit over the silicone coupling. BE PATIENT...the salesperson will think your nuts. its OK they are stupid not you.
you can get the couplings at :

going to be an excellent site when its finished. i got my parts within 3 days overseas in the bahamas
pretty good i must say.
Now you must remove your entire air intake system. (stock)
I must warn you though, you must either have the tools or know someone who does to do this job. Cut the 180* pipe at the center curve point at an angle that suits how you would like your intake to go.
Paint all pipes in a high gloss, high heat colour and do a decal where you would like to have your name or whatever on the pipe.
Now you must also buff this paint job. nice. ok. now you need to drill a hole the size of the vacuum tubing from the original intake and plug it in to the piping. use the coupling if you like. whichever you prefer. it has to be there though, the rockers must be evacuated of air as you drive.
Connect the now 90* stretched pipe out to fit the 45*'s in the direction of the lower front of the left wheel under the battery, it WILL FIT, place the intake on the end and you are good to go. If you dont understand my explanation blame it on BEST BUY< they are assholes for taking this long. BUt anyways, the car is responding much better, gas mileage is actually up three miles per gallon, and engine compartment heat around or near the filter and pipe dropped by ten degrees, this is ONLY because i cut an extra blow off pipe and had it blow via a computers power supply fan onto the engine block. so its doing a good job now. BUT I WOULDNT RECOMMEND THIS, i am a CET, i knew what to do, so dont be bold and do this. Anyways, if you dont like this idea, you can have fun trying to fit a civic CAI on this car, but you wont have as much fun as you think.
moving onto headers now
and CUSTOM EXHAUST. flex pipe here i come. and hey accentmanga, thanks for the idea by the way.
