Any ideas on how to clean the PCV valve? I.E. what liquid would do the trick after the valve is removed from the car? Thanks!

Yup gadzooks is right, all you gotta do is go to an autoparts store & buy one its like $3-4 bucks. Then unscrew your old one & replace it with a new one.
If you want to be cheap (like me) you can clean it out with regular carb cleaner or solvent. Just spray it out and shake it untill no more black gunk comes out, continue shakeing it and if it doesn't make a clicking noise, replace it.... if your car has a lot of miles better off to replace. Good Luck!
