What i have seen with the bouncy cars is usually those people just cut their stock springs to lower their car. which has got to be the stupidest thing on earth. the only real reason i could think of why a car would bounce is because the springs are too stiff for street use. oh and stick with name brand springs, dont go cheap when it comes to messing up your whole car. :rambo:

This is one of those places where you get what you pay for.

 

Usually cutting the springs won't cause a car to bounce, in fact quite the opposite. There is no bounce at all. You hit a bump you will feel every portion of that bump reverberate through the inside of the car. There is basically no buffer between the car and the ground, inside it might feel like the car is bouncing :lol: What causes the bounce is lowering springs that are too soft.

 

The bounce is actually caused by fitting lowering springs to a car where the shocks are, say , half way through their useful life.
The new springs will, very quickly, finish them off & bounce will be the inevitable result!.

you should expect to have a lot of fun with the car lowered. have as much fun as you can, i don't know if you'll ever do it again

it could depend entirely on the quality of roads where you live, i know here that in certain driveways i scrape on a non-lowered car (hawaii .. i dare anyone to pull out of the aloha hyundai on nimitz without first getting out and doing some physics work).

So you're saying that lowering springs will make your shocks wear out faster. What kind of shocks should one get to prevent that? Also, is there anything else that needs to be changed?

 

when you lower or car, make sure t get a camber kit. I don't care if it's Eibach spring. Still need to correct your camber afterwards. I now just found out, through experience. I need new sets of tires because the inner part of my tires are worn out compare to the outer part. My alignment was fine but I didn't bother getting a camber kit. but then again I had very good handling in return due to negative camber.

 

Springs are there to cushion the vehicle from road bumps.
Shocks/Struts dampen oscillation, steady ride, reduce sway and pitch, and resist rapid jerky movements.

If you are worried about bounce it's the shocks not the springs.

Ideally, when fitting lowering springs, up-rated aftermarket struts should be installed.....these usually have a shortened throw or rod-length.
