I was just curious what the top speed is, Is it limited to about 113 like my 01 elantra?? The reason I ask is I was driving behind Skierd (Dave) and we where doing about 107-110 MPH through some of those tunnels going to Pa. TUNNELS ARE A BLAST!!! 8D I was just wondering if he was topped out or if he could go faster than my elantra.

I had my 01 GL upshift to overdrive at 105 mph stock (yes, the automatic transmission) and had an extra gear to max out. I suspect it would easily go 135-145.

with stocks wheels and tires i have gotten to 125mph a little more to go maybe 5-7mph and that was when i was stock. so... i have a bit of motor work and have gotten around to slammn down the pedal

i've had mine up between 105-107mph somewhere round there but it felt like it could go faster i ran out of road havent tried it again what i thought was pretty amazing was the car felt very stable i thought by that speed i'd be all over the road but it felt really good

When my car was stock, I had it up to an indicated 121 mph, but it took about 3 miles of open road and the gas pedal floored the whole time just to get there.

Yesterday while cruising down the highway at 95 mph, I got seperated from the group I was cruising with. So, I decided to catch up with them. I got the car up to an indicated 111 mph, but it was not quit to 5,000 rpms yet(the car's peak power is at 5,400 rpms).

If I had the factory wheels and tires on the car again instead of the heavy 14" ones then I'm positive the car could make it to 123-124 mph, but it would still take a LONG stretch of open road to get there.

I noticed mine shifted into OD at 105. After the shift, the rpm's were about 3800, so I had a lot more to go. I let off the gas because traffic was getting tight.

It was 2 years ago so i don't remember
What speed did yours upshift to 4th gear?

On flat land, mine shifted to 4th gear at 105 mph. That happened before I did any modifications to the car, including rims/tires. I haven't tried that since I replaced the tires with a performance set and the short ram intake.

Where at in Eastern WA?

I went from Tacoma to Leavenworth to start a RV that was dead in the water (wound up having it towed to my shop), and had my Accent loaded when I was trying to test its limit. I got it up to 105 bone stock, but had to slow down. I haven't tried it after I added the spoiler, rims/tires and short ram intake.

Nope...I've only been able to get my GL manual up to 117mph...I had endless road with no other cars....it was a nice desert drive with a good tailwind in the middle of the night.

I had two other people in the car as well (one weighing circa a 150lb runner and the other a 230lb wrestler) so I suspect that I might have been able to get up to 120 without the weight.

But in 5th at that speed you are almost to the redline...I had the pedal to the floor for over an hour straight and stayed a constant speed.
